This sounds like a commercial for RTGC, but it's true

I left on a trip to NE and KS and forgot, of all things, two boxes of diaphragm calls in the freezer :x I had ordered some Rocky Top diaphragms, and they arrived shortly before the trip. Luckily I had put the extras, still in the boxes, in my truck. They were the only diaphragm calls I had for the whole trip.

It wasn't much of a handicap, as I tagged out in one day in each state. 4 of the 5 birds I killed on the trip fell to the Classic Cutter. A couple of them I yelped loudly on it to locate them, and used it all the way in to purrs and clucks when they were in tight. I love the range of volume I can get out of it. It is now my favorite call.

Since returning home, I have called up 4 more birds for buddies and 1 for me (1 bird limit) with the same call.

Here is a pic of me with my first Merriams :D

Here's one of me with my 4 year-old daughter. My brother and I doubled that morning, and my 4 year-old was along to watch both kills; 1 from Daddy's lap, and 1 from Uncle Craig's 8)

Both birds were called up with the Classic Cutter.

Family time :D

My brother and my birds, just before my 4 year-old left for pre-school. She was already telling one of her friends about it before I got out the door after dropping her off!

All the pics I posted here are birds that fell to RTGC calls. I've got 2 guys left with tags. They can't get out much, but the season here in Michigan runs through the end of May.

Thanks Brandon. I know you check in here, and you turned me on to some GREAT turkey calls!!!

Ya'll smoked them on the road trip this year. I was wondering the other day if you ever ordered any calls from RTGC, guess this answers my question. Glad you liked them and WOW have they been working for you this year. I have got to get up there one day and kill a MI bird with you.

Brandon, you're always welcome at my campfire :D

Michigan would make a great season extender for you one of these years. We're open through May 31, and the birds are still working great. I just called one up for another first-timer on Saturday. We hunted non-stop from 5am until he killed him at 12:20pm.

That's 9 Michigan birds so far this year. If I can ever get this kitchen re-model done I'll be BEGGING for guys with tags!!!

Great pics, we're pumped you guys are still killin' birds. I've been working in the yard with landscaping for the last couple weeks and to here of hunters still filling tags makes me want to get back in the woods. Unfortunately the TN season is over, maybe we need to head up to the big M next year and catch some of that late May huntin'. Glad the diaphragms worked out, we sold out of everything we made this year, I'm heading back to the shop in June to start on next years calls. Have a great rest of season and keep posting your successes.

We ended up 9 for 10 last spring in Michigan (10 hunters killed 9 birds). Several of those were new turkey hunters killing their first birds.

Brandon, come on up next spring. I would love to have you. It's a 1 bird limit, but a cheap trip; gas and a $60 tag, and crash in the spare bedroom. If you tag out quick and feel like hanging around I'll have you call for a rookie :) I'm working on getting more turkey acreage so I can take even more hunters, and I've got a couple of leads on some big spots. I try not to kill more than 2 out of a flock and absolutely will not kill more than 3 out of a flock, so I end up with spots scattered across the whole county.

Of 17 birds killed the 2 Michigan birds were the biggest of that road trip. Channing's was over 24lbs with 1 5/8" hooks. I don't rembember the stats on Richard's, but it was a good one as well.

We killed another 1 5/8" off the same farm as Channing's bird a week later. It was that guy's first turkey.

I might just take you up on the offer this year, that would be a cheap trip and that is what I need right now with the way everything is going. :) Are tags over the counter or quota? Deadlines?
