Rocky Top Game Calls

Hey, just wanted to share a way I keep my mouth calls in good shape during the spring season. Sence I broke the lid on my Diaphresh container I've been soaking my mouth calls in alcohol free mouth wash for a couple minutes then rinsing with cool water. I then dry and store them in the refrigirator. This will keeping then running the way they were designed all spring.

In the seasons past I used an old plastic dip can that I cleaned up really well. I carry 10-15 mouth calls sometimes so the jewel cases do not work for me.

This year after several years of bad tasting calls from leaving them in the can wet from 3 or 4 days hunting I drilled several holes in the top and botton so the calls would dry well over night. I still use mouth wash every few days to kill all the germs and have not had any issues yet. I do store every call in the can with toothpicks between each reed so they are good to go each time. I am still torn on if keeping the toothpics is easier and better for the call than just pul,ling them apart when I am ready to use it or not. Sometimes the toothpics get stuck pretty good between reeds.

I keep my calls with me pretty much year around so I go through several calls in a year because I like to practice and stay sharp in the off season. I might be the only person who will have turkey calls at the family reunion every year, but I will be prepared if turkey talk comes up.
