Last Minute Yankee Bird Down

Postby Double Lung on Mon Jun 01, 2009 7:14 am

Yesterday (5/31) was the last day of our season and I took a buddy out after his first bird.

We started at 5:30am and finally got one killed at 3:55pm.

22lbs 12oz
10 1/2" Beard
1" and 7'8" Spurs

I'll post pics and story later :D

Awesome, what a way to end the season. Looking forward to seeing some more yankee bird pics.

That's great! So tell us how many people you guided and how many were successful. I know you had to have a high % of kills. Can't wait til next year.

If I remember correctly we were 11 for 12 on shot opportunities and 10 for 12 on kills, with my wife being the one who missed :D There were a few more misses strewn in there, but those hunters ended up making good on their next opportunities. Lisa was a trooper for one morning, then was done. Next year we'll have a pop-up blind in front of some dekes for her. Not my usual run-n-gun-n-see-10-properties-in-a-day style but I gotta adapt, right??? :D

Are you guys coming back in the spring? Lisa and I would LOVE to have you back again.

Would love to get back up there this spring but you know I can't go without my running buddy Brandon. If he's up for it I'm in. I may want to use Lisa's pop-up and try for a bow kill, only after she kills of course, lol.

I would love to come back up next year, but I won't be able to. We have a little one on the way and he/she ought to be coming into the world able the same time as we would be up there hunting. I am sure my wife would love the idea of me missing the birth of our first born too. :) Might be able to come up the next year though. ;)
