I haven't checked in for quite a while (I get that way during hunting seasons), but here's a pic of TN Scott and I with our MI bucks. Scott and 2 buddies came up for a 3-day hunt and went 1 for 3. We killed them two days apart.
Scott killed his from one of my stands, the first time he set foot on that property. He shot him at 42 yards with his Mathews on an evening hunt. Unsure of the hit, he backed out and went to look the next morning. He hit a little low of his aim point, but center punched the heart. He didn't realize it, but he actually saw the buck drop from the tree. He was a STUD. We rough scored him and he is right at 150, despite missing a very long tine (the matching tine on the other side is 9"). I just about did a back flip off the tail gate when Scott rolled in the driveway with him!!!
I killed mine on the opening day of gun season

I had seen a better buck than the one I killed (he was a 9pt with G-2's well over 10") but couldn't get him any closer than 72yds. He was limping, and didn't want anything to do with a grunt call. Two days later, opening day of shotgun season, I was in the same tree and my 11pt in the pic came to the exact same scrape. I shot him at 102yds with my 870 with a Mossberg rifled/cantilevered slug barrel and Winchester gold 2 3/4" sabot slugs. He will score close to 140 (haven't bothered to measure him yet), and is my best buck to date. I wish I had gotten him with my bow. I am off to the woods in a couple of hours to get a start on scouting/tree prep for next fall.
I killed my best bow buck to date (Mathwes Reezen and a Rage

)out west this year on some private property I got LUCKY and stumbled into, and ended up gaining access in several states, probably for many years to come. He will be close to 130, and has some great character (bladed G-2's with stickers 2/3 of the way up). My buddy killed one that same trip (also with a Reezen and a Rage) that went 152 and was 22" inside. I screwed up on one a lot bigger than what I killed, then had a GIANT at the base of my tree. It was truly the trip of a lifetime.
I'll put up some pics of the other two when I get them uploaded. I am headed back out December 8-12 to another property, just across the state line, to see if I can get lucky again and hopefully prep a few more trees on the place where we killed in November.
Congrats Chris and crew on a great trip west as well! It's nice to hear about great guys having great hunts, you deserve it!
